Charlie Agar runs Charlie Bee Company in Seguin, Texas, where he rescues feral colonies from walls and trees to be “bee-habilitated” and shares his passion for these incredible creatures. Once a travel writer and newspaper reporter (with a career history as winding as a river), Charlie transitioned to full-time beekeeping and now manages hundreds of hives, mostly for agricultural valuation in and around Seguin, New Braunfels, and San Antonio. On the 15-acre homestead he shares with his wife Kaye and lots of little dogs, Charlie teaches the lessons bees have imparted to him about resilience, connection, and land stewardship. Charlie also hosts small-group tours and bee encounters for the public on site, and for him, beekeeping is as much about storytelling as stooping to lift boxes. If it's not on YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram, it didn’t happen—his work was also featured in the PBS docu-follow series Charlie Bee Company, with season 2 set to debut in fall 2025.

We are Michael and Nikki Felcman, a couple who met at Texas A&M and both earned agricultural degrees before heading out into the world—Nikki spending 15 years in Human Resources, and Michael working in oil and natural gas compression.

For the past eight years, we’ve been keeping bees in the wide-open spaces of West Texas, alongside our two very active boys. Eli is headed into his sophomore year, and Quinn is starting 6th grade. Beekeeping started as a reconnection to agriculture and quickly became a way of life. This has been a great way to teach our kids about the importance of hard work and the role that God plays in our everyday lives.

In 2024, we were honored to win the People’s Choice “Black Jar” Award at the Texas Honey Show—proof that our bees are doing something right and that not all mesquite trees should be grubbed out!

Outside the bee yard, you’ll find us showing livestock, volunteering in our community, and staying actively involved in our school and church.

Tiffany Harelik is an Advanced Master Beekeeper through the Texas Master Beekeeper Program and has served in several leadership roles with Texas Beekeepers Association groups. Tiffany co-founded the West Texas Beekeepers Guild, West Texas Bee School, and the West Texas Fair and Rodeo’s first Honey Show. She is the author of multiple cookbooks, including local favorites, The Big Country Cookbook, The Big Bend Cookbook, and The Terlingua Chili Cookbook.

With a Master’s in Health Psychology and a background in cookbook publishing and music event production, Tiffany brings her multi-media experience to offer in-person and online beekeeping apprenticeships, hosts the Beekeepers Almanac podcast, and runs Hacienda Harelik Honey’s YouTube channel where she shares beekeeping strategies with others. She is the owner of Hacienda Harelik Honey and keeps bees for pollination and honey production throughout the Big Country.
